Why Shoot Pigeons?
Pigeons carry a variety of diseases that can be transmitted to humans. While they have provided service to humans over the years, in large numbers they can cause damage to physical damage to property and economic harm to agricultural operations.
In addition to disease, pigeons eat grains and supplements destined for livestock.
A flock of 100 pigeons will consume almost 7 pounds of dry feed a day (over 1.25 tons per year) and will produce almost 2.5 tons of wet droppings annually.
Pigeons breed up to four times a year, hatching 2-3 chicks at a time, and under the right circumstances they can start on a new set of eggs before the previous generation is out of the nest.
